Tanglewood is a modern architecturally designed home with stunning views of the Queen Charlotte Sounds. A family home, Tanglewood is decorated with an eclectic collection of locally made artwork, including paintings and wall sculpture, some created or designed by your hosts.

After a day of activities, relax in our large, private jacuzzi surrounded by beautiful native bush, before taking a night-time tour of our very own resident glow worms.

There is a private outdoor entertaining area for guests, surrounded by native ferns, with gas BBQ and outdoor table and seating for ten people.

Tanglewood offers a variety of spacious super king, queen or twin rooms, all with balcony and private ensuite. All rooms are fresh, clean and modern with new comfortable beds, high quality bedding, and fluffy towels.

Ocean View Rooms

Our newly built Ocean View Rooms offer affordable luxury and stunning views Rooms are 19 sq metres, and have high six metre peaked ceilings.

With soft, natural décor, leather chairs, interesting local artwork, and large glass doors facing the ocean – you’ll never want to leave!

There are two Ocean View Rooms which contain super king size beds (180cm x 203cm) with stylish, clean ensuites.

Ocean View Rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and a small refrigerator.

Ocean View Rooms can also be configured into two single size beds.

Native Bush View Rooms

Native Bush View Rooms can be booked separately, or together to create a private two bedroom self-contained apartment sharing a comfortable lounge and kitchen area.

Rooms are 16 sq metres, and the total apartment area is 55 sq metres.

The kitchen area consists of four person dining table and fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, microwave, refrigerator, saucepans, utensils, plates, cups and cutlery.

A delicious and filling complimentary breakfast is provided to all Tanglewood guests.

Breakfast is served at a time that suits you between 7.00am and 9.30am.

If you are very lucky you may even experience Linda’s legendary pancakes

A three course home cooked dinner is available by prior arrangement. An experienced caterer, Linda enjoys cooking hearty and healthy meals, whilst you enjoy pre-dinner nibbles and wine on the deck overlooking the bay.

A typical dinner menu includes wine and nibbles, breads, vegetables, roast meat, followed by delicious dessert.

Bush Walks

Queen Charlotte Track

Stretching around the Sounds is the famous Queen Charlotte Track; 71kms of hiking trail renowned for its ridge-top panoramas and stunning scenery. You will find this a unique walk as it passes through historic bays, lush coastal forests and unsurpassed views of the Queen Charlotte Sounds and neighbouring Kenepuru Sounds.

Take a wine tour through any one of the many famous Marlborough Wineries, and experience some fantastic food and scenery. There are also many local artisan markets and food producers ready for you to discover.

Kayaking & Biking

Beginner to expert trails

Mountain bikers of all levels will revel in the undulating landscape of the Marlborough Sounds. Or if you prefer, take to the water and explore the picturesque Sounds from a Sea Kayak. Guided tours are available, or simply set out on your own, in the safety of a double sea kayak.
